LogoSwap

Replace an EXE icon in 3 steps — no installation, Photoshop, or command line needed.

LogoSwap is a lightweight Windows utility that changes the icon of any .exe executable file. It comes in handy when a custom program lacks its own icon, when a default placeholder remains after building with PyInstaller or another compiler, or when you need to unify the look of a folder with portable versions. It works extremely simply: drag the EXE into the left zone, and the new icon image (in PNG, JPG, ICO, or BMP format) into the right zone. After clicking the "Replace" button, the image is automatically converted into a full set of frames and written into the file's resources — no separate converter, installation, or configuration is needed. The ICO format is not mandatory: a regular image will do. A full set of sizes is generated from any image — 16, 20, 24, 32, 40, 48, 64, 96, 128, and 256 pixels. Therefore, the icon remains crisp in small file lists, large view modes, and on the taskbar. A .bak backup is created automatically, so the original icon can always be restored. Resources are written directly via the Windows API with a rollback on error — the file will never be left corrupted. After replacement, the program automatically restarts Explorer, making the new icon immediately visible in already open folders: otherwise, Windows would continue to show the old one from the cache. The same action is available manually via "File → Refresh Explorer icons". The interface is translated into six languages — Russian, English, Spanish, Chinese, Japanese, and Korean — with on-the-fly switching. The window features a preview of the current EXE icon and the new image, while the status bar shows the file name, number of sizes, and file size. Instead of error codes, there are clear prompts: file is in use, no write permissions, not an EXE file, or Windows rejects editing a system file. LogoSwap is distributed as a single .exe file, works offline, sends nothing to the internet, and requires no installation — it can be run directly from a flash drive.
